![]() If you like swords and samurai then make sure Phantom Blade 0 is on your radar. An exact date hasn’t been set, but Ghostrunner 2 is set for “2023” and will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and for PC on Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store. The trailer is short and doesn’t do much in terms of setting up a story, but there’s a tremendous sense of momentum and skill-based combat that you can see in the snippets of gameplay that makes this look like an absolute blast to play. Ghostrunner 2 puts you in the shoes of a futuristic cyberpunk samurai with a katana and motorcycle. Immortals of Aveum also comes out soon, launching on July 20 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. The combat system seems to revolve almost entirely around magic, allowing you to command an arsenal of powerful spells to dispatch your foes. Featuring high-speed action, fluid traversal mechanics, and a world bursting with color and awesome character designs, Immortals looks like it could be a potential hit. Immortals of Aveum is the first game by Ascendant Studios, a new team led by Bret Robbins, a former Creative Director on the Call of Duty series. No specific release date is set (a theme that runs across many of the games in this showcase), but it’s slated for a 2023 release for both PS5 & PC. There’s not much more to say about this one, but I want to give a quick shoutout to the facial expressions and body animations in the opening of the trailer, which look fantastic. While tearing alien bugs up looks like fun, the most surprising reveal of the trailer is that the top-down twin-stick shooter gameplay of the first Helldivers has been completely revamped to a third-person shooter for the sequel. Leaning into the military-satire vibes of Starship Troopers, Helldivers II let you and a group of friends fight across what appears to be a host of strange planets as you blow up alien bugs to pieces. Although no release date is given, the trailer ends with “See you soon” and “Coming to PS5 and PC”, so keep an eye out if this one sounds interesting to you. This was just a CGI trailer to show off the world and characters, so it’s hard to say what the actual game will feel like to play, but there are some cool gadgets shown throughout (like a grappling gun and a shield) that hint toward a focus on strategy and teamwork. Fairgame$ is a “competitive modern heist game” where you and your friends steal from the rich while fighting against security forces and, more importantly, other teams of human players. PlayStation has announced a strong desire to get into the “Multiplayer/Games As A Service” scene and while there isn’t a lot of information currently available on this game, it’s most likely going to fall into that category. Haven Studios joined the PlayStation Studios family early last year and is headed by Jade Raymond, a lead producer/creator for Ubisoft projects like Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs. Below you’ll find every game featured in the show along with links to the trailers in case there’s anything you missed.įirst up was a look at the first title from Haven Studios: Fairgame$. However, while there were definitely some fun reveals and cool surprises, the hype leading into the show appears to have been overblown, with the end product feeling more like an extended State of Play than a major publisher showcase. Leading up to the showcase, countless rumors began circulating of what would and wouldn’t be shown, with claims of it being “the biggest PlayStation show ever” and how it would “lay out the next phase of PlayStation” seeming to pop up everywhere you look. Sure, there’s been several of their smaller “State of Play” shows, but this is the first time they’ve put on something bigger that falls more in-line with a typical E3 press conference in quite some time. ![]() If you haven’t been keeping up with Sony’s timeline then you might be surprised to learn this was their first full-blown “Showcase” in two years. While E3 has been left to die in a ditch this year, the slate of summer showcases for 2023 officially started earlier today with a PlayStation Showcase.
